When using JFS

Postby Hutchy » Fri Nov 18, 2005 23:23

Just wondering what sort of problems if any I might have using JFS as my file system?
Reason is I noticed on Gentoo wiki there was a help guide for problems in regards to those who have installed Gentoo using reiserfs instead of EXT2 or EXT3 .
I use JFS these days since trying it on MY debian Distros like Kanotix etc & even RPM Distros like SuSE & Mandriva etc with better results than when I was using EXT3 or Reiserfs etc . So I used JFS again to install RR4 & My system seems to work fine so far but I havn't done any updating etc with "emerge" & so forth.
I also noticed here in forum someone staing to use EXT2 but I am using the latest version of RR4.
AnyWay can anyone tell me if I should look out for any problems on a Gentoo based system using JFS ?
I would like to know early so I know wether I should reinstall using EXT2 0r 3 before I start to build & add files & update etc if possible.

Reiserfs is faster than ext3 for RR4 installation (ext2 only for /boot, if you want, but I prefer ext3). JFS and XFS should work great without any problems, so enjoy your RR4 with JFS.
