mp4 encoding apps in sabayon

Postby ToneDeaf » Tue Sep 18, 2007 3:34

OK, after thinking about it a lot, I've decided to move my iTunes multimedia collection to Sabayon. However, I do have a few questions. How am I going to sync the data, including video? and, should I keep using my old ad-riddled Windows mpeg converter app or is there a native linux gui in sabayon/portage? I've tried amarok and loved it, so my only real worry is about converting and syncing movies.

Please Respond, or I may be stuck with windows forever.

Thank you,

http://www.gtk-apps.org/content/show.ph ... tent=64899

http://gentoo-portage.com/Search?search=mp4

http://linux.softpedia.com/progSearch
add mp4 converter to the search right top of page.

I have several cd's that got stuck with itunes in locked mp4's / aac even though they are cd to itunes ripped in itunes when Itunes had this bug and now cd's is missing.

Aac+ is the default choice now for me 128kbs mp3 steaming in 24kbps to 32kbps aac+ and sounds better + takes up less space not sure about video maybe h.264 think in portage is ?264 or in the USE flags this can be added.

Wine door can install winamp or advertisement converter program as well , maybe burn the aac / mp4 files to cd-rw and then import them again or something not sure about video's.
or convert all of them to mp3 in windows and import to linux ?

Remember to uncertify or what is it called the pc itunes is on otherwise itunes has issues in future "account can not be used on more than 5 pc's" excuses.

Best of luck and post if you find something I can see many persons moving over might want to do the same.

ffmpeg will encode to mp4 (as long as you have the libmp4 installed too.)It will do audio or video. For audio only I would use ecasound and the ecaconvert command.
