Emerge updated dhcp and now I can't get online [Solved]

Okay, one part of the problem seems to have been the router. I exchanged the thing and suddenly my Laptop gets a valid IP adress via DHCP (Windows XP didn't have any problems right from the start, by the way).

However, the DHCP client does not set DNS-server adresses, thus forcing me to use net-setup once again.

Extremely annoying.

Okay, it gets weirder still. I just looked into /etc/resolv.conf and 'lo and behold! The proper IP-adresses for my DNS-servers were all there.

Shame that they're not used for some weird reason. If I use the exact same settings with net-setup, everything runs fine.

Look in the directory /usr/portage/net-misc/dhcp. Find the lowest ebuild there, for example dhcp-3.0.3-r9, they type

emerge =net-misc/dhcp-3.0.3-r9

The files needed to rebuild the lower version should still be on your drive, so it should work even if you have no internet connection.

If you do have a connection, but want to revert to an older version so that the connection does not have to be configured manually each time, you can still use that syntax to specify installation of a lower version.

I found the source of the problem:

NetworkManager adds this line to /etc/resolv.conf:

If I comment this line, everything works fine. The funny thing is: The LiveCD does work, every other Linux distribution I tried doesn't care about this line as well and Windows has no problems either...

same problem with my works DHCP, solved the same way.
