Sabayon freezes constantly.

I recently installed Sabayon on my HP dv6045nr notebook and have come to expect the OS to freeze within 10 minutes of use. I'm a bit new to Linux, so I don't know what to begin to provide in order to communicate the issues at hand, so if anyone could lead me to the right direction in regards to that, it'd be appreciated.

I've been able to subsequently duplicate a freeze caused by youtube videos. I'll change the sound device to the conexant device I believe and begin playing a youtube video, after which the OS locks up forcing me to hard shutdown.

I have had that happen to me when running the live dvd. Just press ctrl-alt-backspace and then log in agian and it will be fine.

Almost definitely a hardware issue. Have you tried disabling ACPI in grub?

I've been having the same problem on my HP DV9200 (Intel Based System) to the point that I just want to throw the DVD out the window.
I've been using the LiveDVD and was going to install it, but I'm scared to even try.

No, I'll look around for disabling ACPI. As for the CTRL ALT Backspace issue, it's frozen, nothing is getting past it. I love the look, but I may need to find a more stable distro to work around with before giving Sabayon a serious evaluation. As for hardware, according to system information, it doesn't know what driver my video card is using, though I couldn't find Linux support for a Geforce GO 7200.

I read about some people having to specify a novkm boot option to keep it from freezing.
Maybe someone else will reply with how to do it, what it does and if it will work. At least this gives something to search for ...
