Sabayon does not see my network card [Solved]

Postby ricemark20 » Mon Aug 20, 2007 4:10

I can't connect to the internet in Sabayon 3.4.
I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x network card, and a Comcast Arris cable modem. I tried to log onto 192.168.100.1 (the modem) with no luck. I get the message that I can't connect to the network. I can connect just fine in Windows, but I want to stay in Linux.

Hi, just read your other post http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=577426 (I assume this is you)

anyhoo, your best bet seeing as your card seems to be detected would be to run 'net-setup' (as root) to configure your card.

Good Luck.

What do you suggest when I ran 'ifconfig etho0' I receive:
eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found

I finally managed to successfully installed 3.4e. Windows on a separate hdd will access the Internet just fine. If SL cannot even see my network card...
lspci: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 8281I (ICH9 Family) Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 02)
...I do not think net-setup will be any good. Any help appreciated.
