wireless stops at 28% and then fails to connect

Postby hunt_mat » Thu Aug 16, 2007 2:24

Hi,

When I look for connections, it find the wi-fi connection (all well and good), I click on connect and it asks my for the WEP key, I enter it and click on connect and it jumps to 28% and hangs for a minute or so and then asks me for the WEP key again. I enter it and a moment later it says connection failed.

What's going on? It seems to configure the connection okay but seems to die after that.

Regards,

Mat

I have the exact same problem. With 3.3mini, and also now with 3.4e DVD version. I was hoping installing 3.4e would solve the problem, but it didn't.
Wired network works though.
Using net-config resulted in the progress getting stuck at 0% instead of the (indeed familiar) 28%.

Can someone post a solution to this problem?

edit: well, not the EXACT same, I cannot find any wireless networks.

That could work for hunt_mat (topic starter)...
In my case, no wireless networks are even found...so never connected to anything before.

You could try re-merging wpa_supplicant, the version 3.4a shipped with was later masked due to connection issues, if you

Code: Select all
emerge --sync; emerge -av

you can see if it wants to downgrade it, if the proplem persists, post the results of as root

Code: Select all
dmesg -c > /dev/null;iwevent

(Try connecting and wait until it failts, then hit Ctrl+C then enter)

dmesg

See if ti wont give a hint to whats happeneing
