ATI 9250 AGP 256mb card

Postby Noobix Cube » Sun Aug 19, 2007 0:17

Installed 3.4e on my computer. It installed and boots but when it boots I get a green rimmed box that floats around the screen similar to pong with a monitor icon type thing with a hz in it. Any idea how to fix? Also Im pretty new to the whole linux environment so any fixes with a little more how to steps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help. :roll:

You can edit the /boot/grub/grub.conf and add
vga=791 xdriver=ati res=1024x768
or similar provided you know a stable resolution and the vga= should force it to a stable hz rate you can also at hd boot press e to edit the options there maybe twice press e and add this then b to boot it.

Can do the same with the live dvd , use up down arrows to select no music or the one you want and then instead of pressing enter press F5 and text will apear at the bottom of the screen and add the
vga to 768 --
options there then press enter like above.

Hope this helps plus check out the wiki on top of this page / search and or gentoo.org / forum / wiki idf all else fails to provide usefull info.
