I have sabayon 3.25 installed on my PC. It comes pre installed with Opera 9.02. I want to upgrade it to Opera 9.23 which is the latest version. Please help me. I am a complete linux newbie!

you need to

emerge --sync && layman -S
emerge opera

I learnt how to run apps from the downloaded .tar.gz files! Now I don't have to install apps through portage or whatever! I run the apps directly!

But don't complain if your system is broken in the nearer future ... why the heck do you not want to use portage
