This can't be

you type

su
than enter your root password

nano /etc/fstab
make changes
Ctrl X
save file as original name

if you want to do it from a gui
Alt F2
kdesu konqueror
enter root password
browse to /etc
use a text editor to edit and than save as original name

It has to work.
