Intel gm965(aka GMA x3100) + Compiz == Popsicle

Postby dcypherd » Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:53

So I have been an ubuntu user for some time now with an old p3. I recently got a new Toshiba Tecra A9(not my choice). I tried ubuntu and X wasn't too happy. So I thought that I might try something more bleeding edge as the new hardware in general wasn't supported in ubuntu. Well I am trying sabayon right now. So far I am pretty happy. It detected everything except the wireless off the bat. However, when I tried to fire up compiz the screen refreshed and I lost almost all functionality. Basically I was able to call
Code: Select all
sudo shutdown 0
from the terminal that i tried to start compiz from and that was about it. So I am not sure if this is a symptom of just really new hardware or if I am doing something wrong. 3d rendering works as when I type
Code: Select all
glxinfo
i get this:
Code: Select all
name of display: :0.0
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x72

direct rendering: Yes tells me that 3d works correct? I am not sure if this is significant, or not but note this in glxinfo:
Code: Select all
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x72
heres my xorg.conf while I am at it:
Code: Select all

one more thing to note is that this is the gm965 but it uses the 810 driver(if i remember correctly) Any help with this would be very helpful
