3.4e compiz fusion lockup [Solved]

Postby sjeter » Tue Aug 14, 2007 18:47

After the install, I updated a few things in kcontrol, like the mouse acceleration, power control, etc. but didn't do a kde restart until I was done. Then I did the restart, and two compiz fusion icons started. I selected quit for the second one. The Patience card game I had open wouldn't move - no wobbly - and a klipper instance showed up in the task bar (I did not run it before). Neither the windows key nor the mouse would start the kicker menu. I didn't know how to get out of this, so I reinstalled.

Does this problem have anything to do with the Nvidia driver?

I'm using Nvidia, but the install is the 32-bit, not the 64.

I reinstalled without NFS and Secure Shell, and things seem to be hunky-dory - so far.

The problem was Kcontrol: "KDE Components --> Session Manager --> Restore manually saved session" was set. Once I saved the session before logout, it seems that it saved the whole desktop and caused the lockup.
