can't burn a cd faster than 4x with gnomebaker

Postby googlymoogly » Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:29

Why can I not burn past 4x with any of my cd/dvd burning applications? The only app I've found that even works for me is Gnomebaker. It's the only burning app that I can get to work successfully, aside from K3B, which I don't use anymore because I found out how much better Gnome is than KDE recently. Even with K3B though, I could not burn faster than 4x. My drive is 52x!!!

This is what happens when I try to go faster with gnomebaker:

Code: Select all
cdrecord: No write mode specified.
cdrecord: Asuming -sao mode.
cdrecord: If your drive does not accept -sao, try -tao.

I don't know the solution, but you can still use KDE apps in gnome. I still use k3b in gnome.

Have you tried different media? I know some burners can be fussy and only recognize it as certain speeds. I had a stack of disks one time that were 16x, but nothing would see it beyond 8x, even in windows.

I managed to get Brasero to burn at 8x, but no faster. I realize K3B works in gnome, it's just that I would prefer to stick with gtk apps, don't ask why.

I read a post somewhere that i need to enable dma but I can't seem to do that.
