I just finished installing Sabayon on my Compaq V2000 using the miniCD... I have sound, wireless, and of course X. My install was only hindered by the default 3d support interface at start up of the LiveCD. After disabling the 3d acceleration prompt I was able to install with no further problems and no need for configuring...
I'll let you know; I have installed (in order) SuSE, Mandrake, Slackware, Red Hat, Gentoo, Ubuntu/Kubuntu, LinuxMint, and now Sabayon. None has been as fast, easy, and hardware compatible (without configuring) as Sabayon so far.
