Noobie Reinstall question..

Being a complete noobie, hope this ? makes sense:
I have 2 hdds with Vista on hdd1 and Sabayon 3.4a on hdd2.
Grub is on hdd1 and boots both os's fine.
Since I couldn't get Portato to work, I downloaded Sabayon 3.4e and want to remove 3.4a and replace it with the new release.
Should I just leave Grub alone and remove 3.4a and install 3.4e or do a reinstall of the Vista MBR and start over, installing Grub back to the MBR as in the origional installation ?
IOW will Grub pick up the new 3.4e install if I just leave it alone ?

well since none of the kernel has a name change you can just leave grub as is
