Beryl in Sabayon 3.4 Loop 3 not working

I just installed the Gnome version of Sabayon Linux 3.4 Loop 3 and when starting Beryl, nothing happens. I switch the Window manager from Metacity to Beryl, seems to start something then stops and goes back to Metacity.

The problem in this is that it worked perfectly when running the KDE Live CD of Sabayon from which I installed Sabayon... (Cube, everything...)

Please help!!!

P.S. The only difference I saw is that when I was starting the Live CD, a window appeared asking me if I wanted to activate 3D desktop effects...When I had it installed on my computer, when booting, that window didn't show...

Maybe the problem is only that its not activated...

I have that exact problem with 3.4a.
Its acting like Beryl starts, then crashes reverting back to the 'backup' desk manager.
Does anyone know where the debug log is for that?

Checking for XComposite extension : failed
No composite extension

You may need to edit your xorg.conf to get it working... but why are you using Beryl? Beryl is superseded by Compiz Fusion isn't it?

Yes, I fixed this by editing xorg.conf , I uncommented Option "Composite" "Enable" and " Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true".
I Wanted Beryl because I have a rare lockup issue and I've read a comment saying Beryl runs cleaner.
Turns out the lockup is something else. ( network manager????.. Im not on a NW!!)

Compiz, Beryl, Compiz Fusion <--- all use the Emerald WM...

how do i start compiz? can only see beryl on the system menu... im new here lol
