Installed with nokvm, can I reinstate it later?

Postby fretts » Thu Aug 02, 2007 20:46

Hi all, I was forced to install Sabayon with the nokvm option, I now want to dabble with virtualisation, but am having issues. I am not sure if they are related.

Can I install kvm support after I installed Sabayon with nokvm?

Thanks

Not sure but it is in the kernel so it should be active on your pc right now unless blacklisted .
Not sure how this works but should be able to active it later if not already running.

Code: Select all
localhost ~ # modprobe kvm
FATAL: Error inserting kvm (/lib/modules/2.6.22-sabayon/extra/kvm.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
localhost ~ #
[ 1006.352685] kvm: Unknown symbol set_64bit

Thanks for that.

modprobe kvm returned nothing when I ran it, does that imply it required installing.

Hi

I moved this topic into the "Virtual Managers" forum. You might get more luck there and it should be there really :)

All the best

If it gave no errors then likely it loaded.
To check if it did:
lsmod
This should list it and or other modules that is loaded as well.
