downloading and seeding? nah! me are more speddy already:

check
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta
is here, then you are ready to go:

make a big directory here, preferably more than 25 GiB free space:

cd to that directory

Code: Select all
curl -O "[url]http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-0.xdelta[/url]"
curl -O "[url]http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-1.xdelta[/url]"
curl -O "[url]http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-2.xdelta[/url]"
curl -O "[url]http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso.md5[/url]"

split -db 2000000000 SabayonLinux-x86-3.4a.iso old.0
xdelta patch  sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-0.xdelta  old.000  new.000
xdelta patch  sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-1.xdelta  old.001  new.001
xdelta patch  sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-2.xdelta  old.002  new.002

cat new.000 new.001 new.002 > SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso

md5sum -c SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso.md5
SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso: OK
<< do not forgot to check this part if md5sums are all ok!!!

for anybody this md5sum should be:
Code: Select all
e902da21299736f52b075af58f0dc91c *SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso

always check yourself to be all ok! And then burn a dvd, if you want, it is optional then, reread it to you hdd with a command like:

Code: Select all
readom -v meshpoints=100 -factor dev=/dev/sr0 f=scris.iso

acu' să văd dacă îl citeşte bine ...

scsidev: '/dev/sr0'
devname: '/dev/sr0'

Linux sg driver version: 3.5.27

Read 4357286.00 kB at 9748.1 kB/sec.

echo "e902da21299736f52b075af58f0dc91c *scris.iso" | md5sum -cw
scris.iso: OK

now all is ok, burned iso dvd is ok also, time to go and join the oficial swarm torrent, as a full sedeers, and help more the comunity, using my short guide to a quick torrent addition to main swarm torrent:

as you see a lot of space nedded, but this days a new and big hdd are so cheap, myself have a lot of free space ....

and do not forgot to help the others sabayoners, restraint yourself a little to jump and experiment the new revision, and keep your machine and your torent up and running in full seed state for a little. This is the first thing that any sabayoners can do to help spreading the good news. Seed as long as you can, remember you don't need to do to using you full speed upload & download bandwith, lower all of it to be 10-20 KiB less that you full speed bandwith and you can have a nice torrent experience and in the same time a good browsing + e-mail + chat experience!

As a ideea i think should be good if can seed the xdelta part also as a *.tar torrent ... what you think? can spread a little the upload effort to a lot more peers. The sum of file is not little at all, has 183 MiB also! How can do this in a official way?

forget about the fact that [url] and [code] bb code can not be both in the same place .... and can not edit or delete my previous post, so here is a first errata:

[code]
curl -O "http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-0.xdelta"
curl -O "http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-1.xdelta"
curl -O "http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/xdelta/sl-x86-3.4a-to-3.4e-2.xdelta"
curl -O "http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/sabayonlinux/SabayonLinux-x86-3.4e.iso.md5"
[/code]

not as it is in first post ! And from some other forum post look like xdelta v3.0 is too new you need xdelta v1.3. anybody can correct me if i am wrong, me have:

[code]
esearch xdelta
[ Results for search key : xdelta ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]

* dev-util/xdelta
Latest version available: 3.0-r1
Latest version installed: 1.1.3-r1
Size of downloaded files: 530 kB
Homepage: http://www.xdelta.org
Description: Computes changes between binary or text files and creates deltas
License: GPL-2
[/code]

still using sabayon v3.3 and i am to lazy to update my xdelta version and check if is working using xdelta v3.0 also .... anybody welcome to do this test ....

and to save for you a lot of headaches, do yourself a favor and use azureus, is the best bittorrent application and is crossplatform also, ready to serve the bits in windows and linux for all of us!

this can start a flamewar but that is, what is done is done, and see here too many complaints about bad torrent download speed performance. Can spark a flamewar but can not restrain myself ...
