Compiz and Beryl starting at the same time

Postby hecia13 » Wed Aug 01, 2007 20:58

I'm a new user of Sabayon, I've used OpenSuse 10.2 before and ran Compiz-Fusion without any serious problems. However, in Sabayon I managed to get Compiz-Fusion to work, unfortunately I cannot make it keep the windows decorations, so I quit and switched to Beryl. The thing is that I get both Compiz and Beryl starting after the boot, and I don't want Compiz. I have Beryl Manager added to Autostart, but don't want Compiz there. I can't start with an empty session, because then my Superkaramba does not start at all. how can I disable Compiz from starting with Beryl?

I had the same problem, so I can help here!

Look in /usr/share/autostart/

The compiz-icon program starts from an object called compiz-manager.desktop; just remove it, or change the launched program from fusion-icon to beryl-manager. In this case, you must remove beryl from Superkaramba autostart. I would prefer this solution as it seems cleaner! :)

Thanks @Greistal - I did it the other way around - updated compiz and removed beryl :D But who knows, maybe I will still need your advice. Thanks!
