3.4 Radeon IGP 330M fglrx not working

Postby nickrout » Sat Aug 04, 2007 5:30

3.4 dvd edition detects my ATi Radeon IGP 330M card and sets up X to use the fglrx (ati-drivers proprietary) driver. However X then won't boot, with Xorg.0.log.

the radeon driver works, but doesn't give me the acceleration required for beryl or compiz.

Anyone know of a solution?

I havent used ati in about 6 months, but when i did, i had a radeon 9800 all in wonder. at that time the radeon driver performed better than fglrx when it came to aiglx compositing and games. is your caard too new for radeon to do dri or what??

also i dont understand your first sentence where you say 'x wont boot with xorg.0.log' . it makes no sense. that is a log file, obviously. so maybe you can elaborate a little bit?

sorry it was going to read "with Xorg.0.log reporting ..." then the last few lines of the log file, but I discovered that the log file had been eaten by starting X twice with the radeon driver and then i forgot to fix the post. Basically X will not go at all and returns to the VT1 screen with root logged in (this is on the live dvd).

When i run the radeon driver I do not get the option to use AIGLX or XGL, just the "no desktop acceleration" option. Which is OK'ish but puzzling and annoying.

How do I set radeon to do DRI? I get so confused with all this X driver stuff between the different cards and how to config them. Give me an nVidia card any day, but the choice isn't always there with a lappie.

if you look here https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/ ... .39.4.html you'll see that your card is not supported anymore with fglrx, so you can only use the opensource driver "radeon"
