Is it possible to resize the fonts used in Gnome's panels?

Postby handy » Mon Jul 30, 2007 14:15

I've searched, I've read manuals, searched Gnome's site, I'm in the process of joining their forum in the hope that they will help to solve this one for me...

Any help most appreciated.

Thanks wolfden, I'm using Gnome, & have only found Control Panel with Font under the Look & Feel section. Which does not change the size of the panel's font unless I go into Details & increase the Resolution dpi, which reduces the quality of the display & interferes with some aspects of web page display under certain circumstances.

I received a reply from a moderator on the Gnome forums, which stated that the applications font adjustment effects the panel font size & that there is no other adjustment.

Well, if this is so, then I have found a bug, because my non adjustable font size is tiny in the panel.

I'm using 1280x1024 res', nVidia 6600GT with nVidia's driver installed by Sabayon on a Sony G400 19" monitor running the correct refresh rates in xorg.conf.

So, a bug in Sabayon, Gnome 2.14 or ...

you should have gnome 2.18 I hope

emerge --sync && layman -S
emerge -uD gnome

Thanks wolfden,

Well, :oops: i just looked at the Gnome help, & 2.14 was the number, so that is probably not accurate.

I followed your suggestion using emerge & gnome, (updated portage as it suggested as well) still my panel fonts, which includes the Computer (start) menu on the main panel & the Control Center do not adjust.

I can live with this & the keyboard timing error, there are just too many things for me to like about SL.

I am running into the same issue here. I've changed my fonts and I've never seen where the panels stay with the default font and everything else is set to the font i've determined. Very odd bug, running 3.4e.

Yes, I've just learned to live with it. There are a few Gnome bugs (I think?), the clock not keeping time, & other occasional inconsistencies.

They will pass in time & new ones will arrive to take their place... :-)
