HD Audio (Realtek ALC888)

Postby mfker » Sat Jul 28, 2007 19:37

Looking for a simple answer for a simple person (me :D )

Just installed 3.4a x86-64.
I am unable to hear anything through SPDIF, only through headphones attached to the front outputs. I removed the headphones and selected the IEC958 switch in Kmix, deselected the headphones switch, and still hear nothing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Seems to be working now, had mute and unmute various things, slightly convoluted but it works nonetheless. This is an ALSA issue rather than a Sabayon one for any other noobs checking this post out ;)

That's pretty classic... ALSA doesn't enable digital output (spdif) by default.
