Video from samba through Konqueror

Hi all,
My problem is that i want to use VLC, which i have just emerged, as a my main video player. I have changed the setting in konqueror so that now it will open VLC instead of Codeine but it tries to download the movie first. It did this with codeine too but i thought that it may have been a setting specific to codeine so i didn't worry at the time. I want to be able to just double click on a video from my samba share and have VLC pop up and start streaming.
