Sabayon Linux x86/x86-64 3.4: Stable Release

Hi totedati,

1. DL from ftp.
2. md5 the Dl'd iso and it matches the md5 on the site. Thinks - the .iso on my HD is good. A dvd burnt from this boots fine.

3. Fire up ktorrent and create a seed being the DL'd .iso
4. BEFORE distributing, do a check of the data using ktorrent checker.
5. ktorrent says 3 areas bad (?? mystery why)
6. re-DL these only using ktorrent - now the HD image matches the torrent seed master

7. allow my ktorrent to broadcast that.

Which one did you mean to rm? The md5 matches & boots-from-DVD one, or the one which matches the torrent seed?

If I was to pass 3.4 over to someone else, I would duplicate the DVD I hold - as the one I don't trust is the "torrent checksum matches" one. After all, there have been reports that people are having difficulties with the torrent dl version.

YET I feel I need check my hardware - this is also the sort of randomness that memory errors cause. But I have checked that x3 already. Something is NQR.

6+0.5 recheck, again, ktorrent md5sum seed image to be identical to OFFICIAL md5sum's

Yep.

That's the number that: md5sum, K3b and the links say.


So - why did ktorrent say there were 3 bad segments vs. my image?

...that's why I am coming over to "bad hw" thinking.


Anyone know of a full system exerciser? I can do memory check - but need to test North-South bridges, SATA and PATA HD, all the kit really.

so iso images are all ok ... bad chunk's, can also mean bad uploaded chunks!, even if file is ok to hdd, when is pumped out sometimes, struggling to 'get out' of you pipe, packets get's bad, and will be pumped up again ... same for download part ... what is important is the separate md5sum check ....

no ideea why ktorrent, before beginning any upload, after a recheck they think iso have bad chunks when in fact md5sum's is ok ....

you do this iso import to main torrent swarm like me?

I used the procedure you suggested and found it worked for ktorrent.

This is a mystery - I can only guess. Subtle bug in ktorrent? Damaged packets? Dogdy LAN driver? It could be anything.

but I still want a hardware exerciser. This rig is a few months old and as stable as XP - which it means it does crash ... sometimes. Most often just as it is completing the boot sequence, as X is about to start.

but I still want a hardware exerciser. This rig is a few months old and as stable as XP - which it means it does crash ... sometimes. Most often just as it is completing the boot sequence, as X is about to start.

random crash in windows and linux and any os can be a sign of bad memory sticks ... and can explain the mystery ... few month old is not too old ... my rig is 4 year's old ... and still working ...

english please but as a romanian speaker can understand what you mean ... so ... congratulation ... you discover that sabayon is not for you ... well then don't pay for it, do not make donation to it, you are not forced to use it anyway not so? and use something else, including mac or vista here ...

if you do not have time and will to try to help yourself, see what is the problem, try to solve it using our collective help also, and simply claim that sabayon is not good for you then surely is not ...

if you can and that system has grabbed as a full package, with warranty, try to dump all package to the vendor and request a full replacement. You will save a lot of time ....
