3.4a on Dell Inspirion B120

Postby trmentry » Thu Jul 26, 2007 17:45

I've been banging my head on trying to get 3.4a onto my son's laptop. The install goes hangs at around 90% during the copy and for the life of me I can't figure out why. On a whime I tried Kubuntu and it installed fine, but don't really want to use that. Would rather use Sabayon. :)

Second issue is I can't seem to get the wireless working on the livecd when messing around with it on his laptop. Its a Broadcom BCM4318 Airefoce One 54g. I enter my ssid and WPA-Personal (TKIP) key and it hangs at 28% then fails.

I saw a post on loop3 about 'removing all 80211 and just adding in the bcm43xx' but wasn't fully understanding that.

can someone plz give me some pointers on the right direction to get my son converted over to sabayon?

TIA

mmm...for the first problem supposing you've checked md5sum I think it's a matter of a bad dvd disk or dvd reader/burner...check for scratches on it or change brand of dvd disks, for the secondo problem post a tail -n 50 /var/log/messages while it's stuck at 28%

Thank you for the quick reply.

I checked the md5sum and they matched. I downloaded from the Torrent. I will try and reburn from another computer to see if that helps.

In the meantime, here is the tail you requested. This is from the livecd since no os on the laptop yet.

Thank you for the info and help.
