I'm having a similar problem with my Dell Inspiron e1405 w/ Intel ipw3945 wireless chipset.

I think the problem may be related to the rewritten wireless stack in the 2.6.22 kernel. Could this be a kernel bug, or has the iwl3945 module not been updated for the new wireless stack yet?

P.S.- my /var/log/messages file is included if it'll be any help.

I think that problem is in too weak driver connect and find router sensitivity. Honestly, i do not know where to change sensitivity.

I am having the same problem. I have an Asus G1. The loop3a was working fine with the old ipw3945d driver. The new driver seems to get me to the router but when I issue a dhcpcd command it drops the connection..Hellllppppp...

I fixed both of mine for tha time being , intel/dell ipw3945 and bcm4311mcg dell 1390 with using the ndiswrapper like above , now it works fine.
You can install wine and use it to extract the windows .exe drivers or on windows and then copy over the folder named driver that contains the bcmwl5.inf over as example.

The dev's tryed really hard to get a stable driver for most cards and had some success witht his new ones but some cards like mine is just too stubborn and only wants funny drivers even in windows, even had dell replace my wifi cards to fix this.
