How to handle updates

Postby hoodwink » Sat Aug 19, 2006 6:52

Well I see that Sabayon is setup for ~amd64. Nothing wrong with that, but how often can you actually update? I did an emerge --sync and attempted an emerge -u world, but that failed pretty quickly with compile errors. It's been about 2 years or more since I ran the ~xxx setup. These days how long does one usually have to wait before crappy ebuilds are fixed?

sabayon is based on the packets that compile and work correctly, when an update comes out on portage and works it will be included on the next release, for the rest it's up to gentoo portage, we also have our own dev for some packages included in the distro
