linux is free, the expertise to harness it is not!
you don't make so much money selling open source software!
You make MORE money USING it, just like google!

I've been wondering why it recompiles every world update. Another globle USE flag to get rid of in BE 1.0 is zeroconf. It keeps calling in mDNSResponder.

Ok noob question. And I am a noob. what is BE 1.0 and where is it? I thought to change global use flags you did so in '/etc/make.conf'.??? :?:

Red, as usual you are a blithering idiot. BE 1.0 is Business Edition 1.0 which you don't even have.

MDNSRESPONDER problem

Postby rhomp2002 » Wed Jul 25, 2007 22:52

I found a method in Gentoo forums to fix the block of avahi and mDNSResponder. Unemerge mDNSResponder and then emerge avahi with the addition of USE="mdnsresponder-compat" - this fixed that block for me and I have done it with 3.3 Mini, 3.3 Mini updated to r3 and 3.3 Mini updated to 3.4.

There is an explanation for what is going on in the Gentoo forums if you do a search for avahi.
