After Installing, nothing happens?

Postby Mistororange » Fri Jul 20, 2007 21:11

Well, I recently installed Sabayon, from a bootable dvd, onto my 2nd HDD, and everything installs fine, then it comes asking if i'd like to restart, or continue using the live cd, I choose reboot, it goes through the reboot procedures, and my computer restarts, comes up with the Grub boot loader, I select Sabayon, a few things come up like loading kernel and that type stuff, then the screen goes black, like its getting ready to show the splash screen or something, and then nothing happens, i've let it set there for 20 minutes or more, the busy light is on but it never loads or does anything.. anyone have this happen before?, im a noob at linux, but not a total noob, so im sure I installed everything correctly.

Thanks for any help.

Pressing alt+F1 buttons should show the text again and or show a text error.
This will help us figure out what is going on unless it locks up.

Can you possibly tell us what hardware you are using , motherboard maker and model number , video card make / model , ram , cpu and hd's sata ata ide raid and if 1 hd with several partitions or 2hd's and more or less the the partitions you created or was it auto.

If autopartition it might have a problem = lvm = working on a fix for this. LVM fix might take a few days so reinstall and manual partitions , 1st 128mb " /boot " ext3 , 2nd swap double ram upto max 2048mb / 2gb , 3rd " / " ext3 and format + continue install.

Also in the live dvd there is the "get online help" icon it uses irc and there is always a helpfull knowledgable person there , great and post question then wait for the current conversation to finish and they will help you if you get stuck.

Hope this helps.
