eix no cache for overlays

Hi got a bit of a problem with eix
noticed this after searching for files that i knew were in the overlays, the files are in visible in portato

I get this after running update-eix-layman add

I'm using eix 0.8.8 tried 0.9.9 same problem, downgraded to 0.8.8
it's most likely something foolishly ignoring to do
