It looks like the 3.3 mini menu and has all the office stuff / devlp. stuff you would ever need.

All lan and other hardware happy without any fooling around it just work's.
Looks like beryl is optional or has to be installed / actived later not sure yet but for a office type it is excellent as most office pc's would not have very good video cards so no real use for beryl in office unless you want to have it or can use it / video card. Jees I did not even know there is so much pic/ video editing software in linux SWEET. LOL

This is running on virtualbox 512mb 1 cpu@2253mhz 32mb vram and wow it is fast very fast even though it is emulated.
I used gparted to do the hd/ partitions as the first virtualbox hd format from new hd takes a while now I can do the normal updated install.
Using the new look "grey" installer I removed all partitions and deleted the lvm and other stuff to make my own. It did say it needs 12gb for root partition or recommends it.
Darn 10gb total so I have to cheat and remove the office and games as I want to see what this puppy can do. Will redo this later after new / bigger virtual hd .
Starting install progress bars @ 12:49pm I made sure the kpower options is at performance / fastest this can go.
13:33 it ended running the host laptop on battery / thunder storms power out , burning the iso to dvd while using the iso to boot from for virtualbox live dvd on 31MB/s hd.
That is fast.

Only thing I found funny was the gentoo linux grub boot screen LOL but nothing serious , runs like a dream.

emerge -u system worked
emerge -u world had that as it comes with 3.5.5 as far as I know and this caused it.

Either way it is as up to date as it could be except for a few programs and should work without needing to update.

Might only wish to update world if a program is full of beans.

revdep-rebuild
revue dependancy and rebuild option is likely more needed that world update.

PS> check if you have a bcm43xx card and the wifi how it is as they might have to fine tune it a bit.
Mine ran at 50% instead of 70% it is.

1) 3.5.7 is marked still as ~ so no need to put that in if you changed it to ~x86 or to ~amd64 means you don't want only stable packes
2) warra about the bootsplash it will be fixed soon on the installer I suppose
3) about mac80211 that's what's the driver says but don't care for it the measurement of the signal is related to how they set it on the driver, the most important thing is that it works better we've chosen it because finally you can score faster speeds with bcm and also better connection despite what you might see it works far better than the old softmac normal driver
