I will try to give as much info as possible...
Basically, Sabayon will get as far as selecting the video acceleration screen (I have tried all 3), then after selecting, the screen goes blank and then nothing. If I move my mouse, all I get is a little grey 'square' that moves with my mouse movements...
Details...
I have:
...AMD64 3500 processor (but I'm loading the 32 bit OS).
...Nvidia GeForce 6600 dual head DVI + VGA - VGA monitor is unplegged during boot.
...2 Gig Ram
...1 SATA Drive, 1 IDE Drive
Other stuff...
I have been using Ubuntu, which works great, but I like the looks of Sabayon. I have beryl installed and working in Ubuntu. Also to make Ubuntu work, I have to add the following to my boot options:
...irqpoll pci=noacpi noapic nolapic acpi=off
If I don't use that in Ubuntu, I can't use the Nvidia non-free driver (which I have to use to use Beryl and Twin-View). I have tried to boot both with and without that to get beryl to work.
Oh yeah, one more thing I have to do to get Ubuntu working properly is to disable Powernow, by editing the /etc/init.d/powernowd file. I don't do this until Ubuntu is installed. So far as I can tell, there is no way to disable Powernow in my bios.
Hope someone can help me get this going!
