How to instal SUSE (or is it SLED?) KDE menu on SabayonMini?

Postby valent » Sat Jul 07, 2007 11:10

Hi I installed Sabayon Mini Edition 3.3b but I would like to use SUSE (or is it SLED?) menu that full version of Sabayon uses.

What is the name of the package I need to emerge? And how do I make it replay current KDE menu?

How to update the mini menu to the DVD Suse style Kicker
Quote:
you need to remove "kicker" lines from /etc/portage/package.mask than

# emerge --sync && layman -s sabayon && USE="-kdeinvisibility" emerge kicker && exit && dcop kicker kicker restart

For future reference : http://www.sabayonlinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1730

The linked forum topic covers lots of useful stuff.

Thanks a lot.

I tried searching the forums before posting but didn't find this with my search queries...
I got this link also via great IRC. I would never had guessed that I would find that there by reading the title of the forum post.

I suggest that you put some of great tips and tricks form the post you linked also to main sabayon page; put it on wiki, faq and tips/tricks page so people find it more easily.

I love sabayon which made it easy to use great gentoo technologies - and also made it fun :)

Thank you all.
