Not sure if the modules for card readers is in the kernel or not.
lsmod to see loaded modules and if your card reader module is not there you would have to manually load it "modprobe module --force" or "insmod module --force" , --force is to well force it if it wants to complain or not.
There might be a more civilized way to make it permanent.
Think it is /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 and adding the card reader module name to this list / file will load it at pc start.
Hope this helps.

Hey thanx a lot, but the modul is loaded
lsmod shows up the modul but in lsusb not.
As i already said only usbview is showing it in red.
there is also an udev rule for it, but i guess as long the lsusb is not showing it it won't work

Well if it see 's the device like above and does not make it work then the driver could be wrong or the program that needs to work with it is missing or not configured.
Weard
Only real worth while answer I can give = google for device + linux and if others had success or problems there might be a fix or a how-to.
Alternatively boot with live cd /dvd and see if it work there as maybe something did not copy over to install disk if this is the case. Could be wrong but worth a try.
Any luck with connecting a camera or the device using the memory card's directly to the pc with usb / firewire instead of having the card inserted into the 5-1 card reader.
I know with the inbuild card reader in my laptop windows / linux it uses 1 chip driver and 3 device drivers to get xd / mmc / sd or something like that to work might be similar with yours needing 5+1 drivers / 5+1 modules ??
(1 for usb translation chip)
Hope something here helps.

Hmmm i guess its the driver.
I tried it on 3 totaly different pc's with all SL 3.4 Loop3a on it.
Alll with the same errors.
Under VMware with an winxp guest its working fine. (SL as host)
I wrote now an email to the support hopefully they know something.
