Embarassed I am not doing something quite correct. I can't turn SKIM on yet? I put in commands and it just looked at me.
export XMODIFIERS='@im=SCIM'
export XMODIFIER='@im=SCIM'
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
Then I put in this last line here. Cool I'm thinking GREAT! It said that Scim is activiated.
scim -f socket -c socket -d
Accept it's not doing anything. I logged out and back in to restart the X session.
I also restarted as a last ditch effort? What am I missing?
export LC_CTYPE=en_EN.utf8
Would it be this? (I did put it in but nothing happened either) It just tells it that U want to use Skim for that particular Local right? I have read U can leave it off. Much as U said that it would just have Skim enable all the time for any Local or for everyone as U said.
What did I miss? I am using 3.2 stable version. I haven't bothered to update to 3.3 as I can't use Chinese and 3.2 is working fine for my needs. Minus the Skim. In fact I want all the languages. I may very well be heading tropical on my next contract so I may need Bahasa Indonesian or Malaysian. Or Korean, depending on where I decide to go.
Look forward to a reply on how to enable this properly. From your instructions and from what else I found, with everything already installed. This should have just turned on Skim...
I found it was easy to do, in a DEB distro. My buddy here was using something Ubuntu base, I think Mint. I just told him to use the Cli, found on their wiki and sure enough his SKIM turned right on after a log out and login...
Not sure what I missed here? I must be missing a command?
Much appreciation for your help.
