Smaller installation

Postby mrpaolo » Mon Jun 25, 2007 5:43

Hi!

I've tried the DVD-based version and would like to install it on my HD. My question is how much disk space do I need to perform an installation with only GNOME + Multimedia + Office + Internet applications.

My second question is whether I may install binary packages afterwards from Sabayon¡'s official repository.

And, finally, if I can install grub (or lilo, or whatever it uses) at a floppy disk at setup time, since this is a shared computer and its other users are not initiates in the GNU+Linux world.

Regards,

Mr. Paolo

11GB for the dvd install and that leave u no room to play. 20GB will give u some playin room, but 40GB would be better.

SL uses portage for installs, see thread

I have no idea if grub can go to floppy, such a odd request in a world that don't even have floppy drives any more. No idea since it has never crossed my mind to do such a thing.

What about removing extra software?
What about binmerge for installing binary packages from sabayon's repository?
