I know I had this working before I had to reinstall, but I have no idea what the username or password are. The windows pc doesn't have any login info so is there a way to bypass this, or does anyone have any suggestions?
in order to create a working share in win2k or winXP you must have a user/password.
all windows computers have user names, but most sadly do not have passwords.
start, settings, control panel, user accounts.
click on:
Change the way users log on or off
uncheck BOTH boxes.
then go into your user account, or administrator what ever you use to log into the computer with and create a password.
reboot the windows computer log in at the prompt with your user/password combo, then create your share. at that point it should work better for you. you will still be prompted the 1st time you connect to the printer, but after that you should never have to login again.
