Do others have xgl, aiglx, or Beryl working?

Postby Red Knuckles » Sat Jun 23, 2007 1:42

I have the ASUS M2NPV-VM mobo with onboard nVidia GeForce 6150 graphics card. Whenever I enable xgl or aiglx with Acceleration Manager some windows don't open properly including Thunderbird, KDE Control Center, and Beryl Settings Manager. Some can be moved [KDECC] but others are cut off at the top and can't be moved. anyone know how to fix this? I've looked in Sabayon and Gentoo How To's and Wiki's but haven't found anything yet. Also when I use Beryl Manager to set Window Manager to Beryl I keep getting a repeating error that Compiz can't be started. Well I didn't want Compiz I wanted and selected Beryl. What's up with that??? :?:

I'm using a similar all in one motherboard and not a single problem like that...you might have used a faulty dvd...have a check for md5sum and all the rest...and don't forget that 3.4 loop2 is better than 3.3

Red Knuckles,

I have the same motherboard with 1 GB RAM. Excellent choice I believe. Beryl is working very well. Perhaps you do not have enough shared video ram specified in the BIOS. I use 128 MB shared video ram.

I use AIGLX choice when the question is asked about acceleration ie, None, aiglx or xgl.

Also after booting you can right click the Beryl ICON on the desktop and choose Beryl in case it is not somehow chosen.

It works very well with both 3.3 and 3.4LOOP2 and 3.3b-mini. I have used all from tne CD/DVD and have installed 3.3 FULL and 3.3b-mini. Flawless installs as well.

Does the initial screen come up which indicates the Display setting say 1024x768 and 50 HZ? That is the default for the 15 inch TFT display I have used. Its native resolution is 1024x768.

You could try going to the Control Center and check the display setting there also.

These are all I can think of at this time.
