Abit AB9 motherboard & Linux

Postby chsims1 » Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:20

I've just built a new core 2 duo system on an Abit AB9 965 chipset motherboard & I'm having problems with IDE CD & DVD players. IDE is not directly supported by the board, but instead there is a JMicron JMB363 controller which converts IDE to SATA. This controller is supported from kernel .18, but I am not convinced that it is indeed fully supported. So, the problem is that although the IDE devices are recognised at some level:

& they are specified as sr0 & sr1 with their appropriate properties, they are not automatically mounted when CDs/DVDs are inserted.

Has anyone any experience with this board, or do I have do resort to buying an IDE to SATA converter?

Oh, forgot to say that I can read the contents of the DVDs from within K3B, & that I have tried both IDE & AHCI modes for the controller in BIOS.

Jmicron is all over most linux distro's / hardware.

You might be able to change this in fstab the automount.
If you can read from the drives then likely you are okay with the driver part

Fstab:

You can try to change /etc/fstab and the automount options in there.

This link might help you as well for jmicron.

Might also have to load a module for the jmicron not sure.

Hope this helps.
