Prettier fonts for Thunderbird?

Postby wilberfan » Sat Jun 16, 2007 4:53

I'm frighteningly new to Sabayon (been an Ubuntu Boy since late last Summer), and would like to have prettier fonts in Thunderbird...

Someone in the irc channel said there might be a FLAG (??) setting (perhaps I'm misremembering what he said) that would compile the source with truetype fonts?! (Does ANY of that make sense? LOL)

Right now, some of the fonts look fine--others look horrible...

[edit] I just searched for mozilla-thunderbird in portato--and I don't see ANY font-related flags there... was I led astray in the #sabayon irc room?

[2nd edit] I just did an "eix mozilla-thunderbird" and got all of this:

$ eix mozilla-thunderbird
[U] mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird
Available versions: 1.5.0.8 1.5.0.12 2.0.0.0 2.0.0.4 {bindist crypt debug gnome ipv6 ldap linguas_be linguas_bg linguas_ca linguas_cs linguas_da linguas_de linguas_el linguas_en_GB linguas_es linguas_es_AR linguas_es_ES linguas_eu linguas_fi linguas_fr linguas_ga linguas_ga_IE linguas_gu_IN linguas_he linguas_hu linguas_it linguas_ja linguas_ko linguas_lt linguas_mk linguas_nb linguas_nb_NO linguas_nl linguas_nn linguas_nn_NO linguas_pa linguas_pa_IN linguas_pl linguas_pt linguas_pt_BR linguas_pt_PT linguas_ru linguas_sk linguas_sl linguas_sv linguas_sv_SE linguas_tr linguas_zh linguas_zh_CN linguas_zh_TW mozdom moznopango replytolist xinerama xprint}

Are those all the available flags? If so, I'd say there IS no truetype-related font flag?? :?

Not tried it myself, but perhaps editing the userContent.css file and/or userChrome.css file?:

EDIT: Or configure a different HTML font?:

Remember Sabayon is Gentoo. Have a look at this from gentoo-wiki: HOWTO Xorg and Fonts.

I assume you have tried "Edit", "Preferences", "Display", "Fonts".
