Wiine and DirectXwine

Postby 34032322 » Thu Jun 07, 2007 14:31

Hi,

I installed wine and I want to know how to install wine with the patch "directxwine" from the ebuilds.
Is there some command using emerge to automatically apply it to the wine source??? or I have to modify something??It would be a good idea include it in the repositories.
Winehq doesn't include it on the stable verssion for security, but when I used it, I haven't had any problem (overflow,crash).

Bye and thanks!

As this page suggests:
http://directxwine.sourceforge.net/
The majority of the patches have now been merged into Wine CVS, if your trying to play games with wine please try the latest wine release.

But yes if you want to have those patches anyway then you'll have to make a modified ebuild.

I modified the wine ebuild.
Uninstalled and recompiled and Half-Life doesn't work well. I can't start a game.

This is the unpack section of the ebuild

src_unpack() {
unpack wine-${PV}.tar.bz2
cd "${S}"

sed -i '/^UPDATE_DESKTOP_DATABASE/s:=.*:=true:' tools/Makefile.in
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/wine-gentoo-no-ssp.patch #66002
epatch "${FILESDIR}"/d3d8-wrap-wined3d-beta-os-1.patch #Directx support added by me
sed -i '/^MimeType/d' tools/wine.desktop || die #117785
}

I don't know if it worked, if epatch applied the patch...

Do you mean that if I install from CVS I would have the patch included there ?
I don't know how to manage CVS ..

Bye

No the patches should be also in the latest releases of wine. Look on the page: it says the last update was in 2005 - they had more than enough time to integrate those patches completely into the tree.
WINE uses git now by the way. I think if you wasn't able to run the game with recent versions of WINE you won't be able to run it with that patch either.

When you run half-life with wine (from console), what does it say?

Half Life and Steam run perfectly with Wine 0.9.40 give it a go (or use Cedega/Crossover)
