Without Azures my PC has been running fine dureing the day. Downloaded fedora 7 via a torrent in Opera without problems. (3GB of data), I have found something strange. When I do ifconfig I see that both eth0 and eth1 are allcoated an IP address. I only have a WLAN connection so I would only expect one valid IP address. Somehow this is a bt strange to me

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:31:90:02:4E

I wonder if the open security mode cause a failure in the authentication procedure with the ap...have you tried using iwconfig eth1 enc closed ? the open mode is not a default auth method on most of the routers, so unless you've changed it yourown it shouldn't be that way

Was a bit confused about having the system setup to be open. Found out that this is done by the net-setup script.

johan@localhost ~ $ more /etc/conf.d/wireless
# This wireless configuration file was built by net-setup
key_Z10="cdac-etcXXX-6a enc open"
preferred_aps=( "Z10" )
associate_order="forcepreferredonly"

Network Connection

Postby reuben » Mon Jun 04, 2007 18:27

I'm having difficulty getting the internet connection up and going, probably because I'm a Linux newbee. How I wish it to be simple as it is with Windows OS. Also, my Sabayon Linux doesn't detect any printer which is Lexmark Z13. Somebody please help since I don't want to give up Sabayon Linux. Thanks!
