Problem with Desktop Acceleration

How can you be sure acceleration is working (as opposed to it suggesting that it is not in the acceleration boot option)?

I wouldn't mind knowing either ...

I'm having the same problem with all Sabayon versions that I've tried. Choosing Beryl as the default or current window manager doesn't work. Neither does using the acceleration manager.

It works now after fiddling some more with the acceleration manager but a lot of panel icons are floating on the desktop.

ATI cards are tricky
I recommend reinstalling the drivers after install of Sabayon
emerge ati-drivers
then, if you still have problems try adding these lines to your xorg.conf as root (I need them for my X200M)
Option "mtrr" "off"
Option "UseInternalAGPGART" "no"
Option "KernelModuleParm" "agplock=0"


after the line

Driver "fglrx"

remember, with the fglrx driver, you get only XGL acceleration

if the native driver (radeon) works with your card, you can get AIGLX acceleration with the radeon driver
