can't install RR64 via gentoo installer!@! ( nice BUT!! )

hi..

I burend this RR64 installer..clicked 'install to disk..seemed to go fine..but when it came time to partition it said:

Exception received:
MissingPartitionsError :FATAL: partition: Cannot find the existing partition that a new one refers to. This is not a bug. This is in fact your (the user's) fault. You should not reuse the installprofile.xml from a previous install that started the partitioning step.
Please submit a bug report (after searching to make sure it's not a known issue and verifying you didn't do something stupid) with the contents of /var/log/installer.log.failed, /tmp/installprofile.xml, the last ~50 lines of /tmp/compile_output.log)


HOW NERVY of them to be to snide and criticize me for making some error ?..I mean really darling whose egg didn't get fried ?

anyway if I indeed MADE A HORRRRRIBLE ERROR , how is this fixed ? or is it ?

If something went bad, "testdisk" (it is present in the dvd) should repare it.
To install, usind the DVD2HD option, partition the disk before instalation with the "partition editor" present in the livedvd desktop.

The gentoo installer is still very alpha and maintained by Andrew over at gentoo.org, not by us. We just try and make it work a little better. You have a few options, try rubengonc's suggestion (make sure if you recover you back up), wait for our implementation of anaconda, or follow this manual installation way: http://www.lxnaydesign.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=800

yea I got the same thing - I'm just gonna wait till RC2 and use the Anaconda installer, sounds like RC2 isn't that far from being out.

I may just have to wait, as I tried using gparted and did all that first then tried to install with dvd2HD but same error..maybe I neeed to reboot first ( or wait for anaconda installer heh) ?

Did you try doing it the non gui way? That is a proven way to work Anaconda will be released in RC2 for testing (hopefully)
