Road Map?

Postby wolfden » Sun Jul 02, 2006 19:31

No I am not here to be a pest about when the next release is or anything like that. I'm just curious to know what Time Frames RR is looking at for like RC 2 etc.... to a final release. Is it keeping the name RR? I noticed in the post of the mini release that rr 4 is that last version for rr so it got me wondering.

RR RC1 is running so good here it's like running a final already.

It will be called Sabayon what I've heard. But is it Sabayon 3.0?

lxnay had a calendar before on the site, but schedules always streched so I believe he scrapped the idea.
Sometimes he gives some info in the news bits, but I agree that the timeframes should be posted somewhere at all times. Even if it says "no info". :)

yea I can understand about the calendar thing, things seldom go as planned and if you say it will be this day than the community usually goes OMG you said it was gonna be today. I'm just looking for something in general. 6 months from now RC 2 should be released, something like that. I don't know how the scheduling goes around here.

Take ubunto for instance they say support will be for the distro 1 year than a new release will be out. Personally the less installs I have to do the better. Reinstalls take time and sometimes it's hard to get it back to the way you had everything setup.

Sabayon sounds good to me - kinda figured it would since the forum is sabayon linux.

RR is the old naming scheme, there used to be an even older one too ;)

The upcoming stable release (release 3.0) will be named Sabayon Linux. While technically the third stable release, will will begin using this naming scheme and theme. 6 months is a little long just in between rc1 and 2 and we are still debating on that due to some changes we're making. Hopefully we will release Sabayon Linux before the end of summer (northern hemisphere), but that's to hoping :P
