Check out this one!

In game movies:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ychzGUJSqz0
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UI2vAAfxL9Y&mode=related&search=

Emerge
As root: emerge -av savage-bin (thx voxiac)

Or Download:
http://www.s2games.com/savage/

Patching the game:
If the integrated updater doesn't work:

Get the patch here.
http://www.notforidiots.com/SFE/

You must overwrite the files from the patch to the game folder.

(if you got it through emerge/portage, its located in /opt/savage)

To fix a sound problem run as root: alsaconf

Recommended System Requirements:
Controls: 3 button mouse with a scroll wheel
CPU: 1000 MHz CPU or better (subject to change)
Memory: 256 MB RAM
Video: GeForce4 or better (OpenGL compatible Video Adapter)
Online Connection: Broadband (Cable Modem, DSL, or better)

It worked for me, out of the box.

seems like a pretty goo idea to mix realtime stradegy and fps. best thing is that system requirements are really really low, i should be able to run it on my 2.4ghz 256 ram machine!

i have been looking for a good linux game lately. what you think about it? think we could make a sabayon team?

Finally... but note that link on the official site is already old. The most recent one could be found on:
http://www.notforidiots.com/SFE/
(so you don't have to update it)

Actually the version joost have pointed to should be already in portage and keyworded ~x86:
Code: Select all
emerge -av savage-bin

and here is my request of adding an ebuild for the latest version (with a draft ebuild attached - thanks to a gentoo dev Tristan Heaven):
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163793

What your nicknames are when you play on servers? My is the same 'voxiac' and I'm mostly on 'Multiplay.co.uk*' and 'EU' servers.
