Hardware compatability database

Postby Goatee » Sat Jun 24, 2006 19:44

Would it be possible to set up a hardware compatability database where if your the distro works with your hardware you poke that in but if it doesn't you poke that in too along with the version etc.

I think that it would eventually flag up where the problems were aswell as being able (after a time) to tell people if the current release is compatable with their hardware 'cos 2.2gig is a big download.

If you like the idea i'll see what I can do about making a mock up.

I think it's possible, but being reasonable, it's more effective to list hardware that does not work. For example, my mobo, cpu, gfx blaablaa works, but my wlan card has no support. KISS?

David, if you have a precise plan in what you would like to do, please send me and email about it and we'll discuss the feasibility and if we need it, etc
