I found that one quite interesting. Makes me wonder, what cpu manufacturers are thinking, still supporting x86 architecture. Money? :P

True, for now..but still, I find it interesting. The path desktop evolution has chosen most likely will render this useless for average joe, but surely scientific projects will focus on things like these, after all, they can have the processing power with 1/4 the price they usually pay..that's a lot.

Maybe but
1. precission - 32bits, maybe to low....
2. professionals don't use x86 ;) rather Sparc from Sun witch are much faster in math. Anyway if You really need more power for calculations You may buy some cpu time (like banks do).

But the power is elsewhere - physics for games is going to 3rd graphics card.

Yeah, that's where I picked up the link to the results..

@cvill64

What would you do with the latest gear? Stress out, how fast that gear is getting old and damn, it would only cost 100e to upgrade to the new gfx-card, if you just sold the old one?

I'd like to have enough money to sip red wine at living room, while coding watching the code using widescreen projector and taking calls from manufacturers, if I wanted to have few free samples of their latest and greatest..

..damn. I want to be Bill Gates :oops:
