Do you run RR64/RR4 concurrently with another dist?

Do you run RR64/RR4 concurrently with another dist like Ubuntu, Mandriva, ...

in a chroot environment?

There are just some software I find that a dist like Debian has that take Gentoo what seems like years (exagerating) to get into portage.

I personally find no need. I just install and build stuff myself if needbe. But I do know that Lxnay is running Ubuntu ontop of his server for Zimba (is that how its spelled?) So each to their own and its all based about need

But then you have the problem of package management on the packages you build which is not really a problem if the number of packages is small but becomes a problem if large. And sometimes things just don't compile whereas in debian they got them to compile. For example the ggobi package is not easy to get up and running.

lol, like I said, to each their own I personally like compiling my own packages if their not in portage instead of using something like .debs in ubuntu where they decide where everything goes. Also, for my production/stable environment when I'm not developing, I keep to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule.
