I was looking at our plug site, and found this presentation they gave while they had new linux users use Ubuntu live cd .. http://www.vtluug.org.vt.edu/?page_id=17
That's pretty good, even I understood most of it ..but really, instead of giving a go with graphical enviroment, they are actually teaching linux. That's pretty cool.
a lot of the presentations I give at college and MLUG meetings are available at either http://www.edwiget.name or http://www.maysville-linux-users-group.org - there are also online classes, although I haven't done one in c+ yet....I may if there is enough interest. A lot of linux specific stuff, php, mysql, apache, fwbuilder, many more.
I make these presentations from the sense that the person reading them has never used linux, so for geeks....they may be a little too simple (just read faster)
