New router/firewall

I need new dsl box. The one I'm currently using takes serious performance hit under stress (udp-spoofing@250-350kt) and usually kills the connection. Even now, when there are only one or two 512kbps bombing the connection, I can feel the lag-g-g-g. Takes 15-45s to open an ordinary webpage and page with alot of pics (thumbs up, anyone :)) something between forever and eternity. Usually the downloading of the page stops when the connection to the server is timed out. Say lol, anyone?

So, I need a new box. Something that does not have that many vulnerabilities and maybe has wlan as an option. It should be capable of doing 8/1, possibly 24/1 and any kind of dos abuse up to 10mbps connections. Main focus kept on the security and budget on 100e, fire it away gentlemen.

Think I found suitable solution to fill my needs. Linksys wrt54gl - wireless router with 4+1 ports and firewall. Not that I'm going to use the original firmware that much, but open/hyper/dd-wrt instead. Now if I could only figure out which wlan card has both windows and linux native support.. :)

Some of the older boxes (wrt54g*) can run linux code

See http://freshmeat.net/projects/wrt54g/

Hasta be the older ones tho seems to me.

I swear by mine, but careful with the firmware upgrades, especially from Linksys as they are unclear about what model can take what upgrade. Read carefully

Only the GL model from the new ones will take full firmware, also the 54G v5 will take one with some modding done to the firmware. Though, there is a possibility to brick the box, it's the same with any device upgrading bios, firmware. Whereas you need new bios or hot swap the old one to flash it, there are few ways to recover from bad firmware upgrade on linksys devices. Instead of worrying the possibility of bricking it, I'd suggest any and everyone to download the instructions and keep them safe, untill the upgrading is done. Here's the best firmware I found:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php

It also has very nice feature:

Next I need to get new PSU. Nothing wrong with the old one, it just keeps me awake at nights with 8cm fan. Also my 3,3v line is dipping every now and then near 3,2v, I don't like that..
